Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem
Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem
Who has seen 'Most Haunted', or 'Ghost Adventures'?
They are all pretty much the same. They all set out to shock and scare, but sadly, they invariably descend into farce.
Who can forget the 'Most Haunted' moment when Derek Acorah shouts "Mary loves Dick, Mary loves Dick!", during the Dick Turpin episode?
'Ghost Adventures' follows a similar pattern every show. Ghost hunters Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and Aaron Goodwin always end up locked in a haunted venue overnight, and Zak Bagans normally ends up telling a ghost to "F@@k off".
But what of Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem?
Reported to be the oldest inn in England, The Trip (as it is known locally), is at the foot of Castle Rock in Nottingham's city centre.
According to local legend, it takes its name from the 12th Century Crusades to the Holy Land. Legend has it that knights who answered the calls of Richard I to join the crusades stopped off at this watering hole for a pint on their way to Jerusalem.
All these lost souls.
I also read about grim tales, where part of the pub was used as the condemned cell of the castle prison.
Tales of hangings and murders.
Stories of muggers, cut-throats and vagabonds.
I've drank in Tamworth on a Saturday night, so I knew what to expect...
Surely I could be a little spooked out when I visited last year?
I read online about the cursed model galleon:
"In the Rock Lounge is a model galleon hanging from the ceiling, covered by what looks like 50 years of dust and cobwebs. No one will clean the galleon because it is cursed".

Food for thought, and as I fear my toilet to be cursed at home, it to, has never seen so much as a glancing wipe of a cloth or a splash of bleach...

That said, I painted Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, as an addition to my gallery.

Buy a print on Society6, or you could also be cursed...
Saying that, my framed prints for sale are beginning to attract a covering of dust, but my fear of being cursed is outweighed by my desire to make money!

I thought I had already promoted this one a while ago. I even looked it up online because it looked so interesting.
