Pussy Riot sang a brave protest for freedom. With bravery and music the world heard their defiant voices. People outside Russia were reminded to value the daily democracy they had taken for granted. Even though in the end, Pussy Riot faced the ultimate sacrifice we must never forget them.

This caricature pays tribute to the extreme censorship Pussy Riot faced while standing up for their inspiring beliefs. It features the Russian double headed eagle transformed to accommodate the swollen heads of Putin and Stalin, two tyrants opposed to anyone who questions them. The three women of Pussy Riot dangling from a noose in Putin's claw mirror the image of a religious puppet in Stalin's claw. It symbolizes Russia today and Russia of yesterday, that struggle for freedom continues even under the guise of democracy, and that music is a vehicle for our dreams. It went viral with 7000+ views on Google Picasa Web Albums only a little over a month after its début on Aug. 27 2012 in http://mayorgate.blogspot.com/2012/08...riate.html
