From the 'Polly's Gone' Series of Lady Babe portraits named after video games I used to play as a kid... ▢‿ ◯
✴⋆ ✶ ✶ ✴ This piece was watercolour/watercolor, acrylic and paint markers, metallic sharpie, fineliner, pencil, lead/graphite and GLITTER on handmade Indian paper! Lots and lots of transparent, white glitter. It's sad you can't see it sparkle through the computer screen, it's pretty impressive. ⋆✴ ⋆✴ ✶⋆✴ ⋆ (☜ Text sparkles, to make up for the lack of sparkle on the computer screen).
Ape Escape was one of the most fun games I owned when I was a kid! It was about this kid called Spike who had to travel through time and catch Apes before they could rewrite History. They were all pretty sneaky, those damn dirty apes... You got to use a light-saber-esque sword, a hula hoop, a slingshot and of course a net to catch those cheeky Monkeys; I spent many an hour with my siblings playing away the days and catching those monkeys. Sunlight, who needs it?
So, inspired by Spike's rad ass hair, I gave this AE babe the red and blonde dye job, a super neat banana sweater and some cute gold collar cuffs. She's really fun, glamorous and glittery in real life. I only wish I could share the glitter through the computer screen! I have about 3 more of these to post but I'm enjoying painting them so much I might just paint even more. The pixels and pixellation looks really cute and cool... They'll probably be going to exhibition later this year after I get back from Hawaii. ^_____^
