Old John Tower overlooks Leicestershire from the top of the tallest hill in Bradgate Country Park. Built in 1784 by the 5th Earl of Stamford it is a round stone tower which was used to watch horses gallop around the racecourse at the bottom of the hill. It is a prominent local landmark and a place I regularly get dragged past by my dog! Painted using oil on canvas from a vantage point taking in the steep rocks close to its base.
