About Audrey Smith
I began experimenting with collage in 1990 after discovering the work of Max Ernst and the Dada art movement, but it wasn’t until many, many years later that I began to pursue collage and assemblage as a serious art form. I began my art studies as a painting major, then switched to sculpture and ceramics. I earned a BA in art from Towson University in 2003, believing that I would pursue all things 3D. Around 2007 I began creating collages in a Moleskine sketchbook as a creative exercise, and before I knew it collage making had blossomed into an important creative vehicle for me. Collage and assemblage marries what I love about painting and sculpture, and it creates for me a constant challenge as I explore new methods and materials.
