Rumoured to be a demoness, Xtabay slept with any man who asked in exchange for jewelry and fine clothes. Most villagers shunned her for her lust, but what they failed to notice was that she took these luxury items to the poor and needy, giving up almost all she owned in acts of charity. She also cared for unwanted animals. When she died, her body smelled of beautiful flowers. This duality in her personality allowed for a dynamic, iconic depiction as both lustful beauty and gentle caregiver.
