This painting is a eulogy to my Grandma's pier that was washed away after Hurricane Ivan. It was a special part of her home that was lost after that great storm. A space to gather and celebrate, a space for quiet reflection and a space for humbled sky-gazing at any point of the day or night. I painted these planks feeling both a sense of loss and of gratitude. My family taught me to relish the natural world, to soak in the beauty in each sunset and sunrise and every time in between.
