Textural acrylic portrait on wood of a giraffe in the African Savannah. I created the original artwork on aged plywood, applying scratches and staines to it to give the appearance of dry grasses in the background. The giraffe is painted in acrylic, using tissue paper and gel mediums to create texture of short hair. I wanted to give the painting a messy appearance, with strong textures and visible brushstrokes and running paint splats.
