I'm glad you have a sense of humor, Nicklas! I know that I'm a snob and an asshole... I just hope that some of the things I do and say challenge folks to occasionally push themselves to create something thoughtful and unique. I recognize that S6 is not an art gallery and that the average customer isn't looking for cutting edge avant-garde art, but I still believe that we, as artists, should occasionally do more than just satisfy customer's wants.
But then, I don't sell much here, and will never be on the front page, so what the hell do I know! :-)
@Wayne
I agree with you about all that you said. And i also consider that this, in fact, isn´t an artgallery. So i mix my stuff up quite a bit. Sometimes i feel like really put the effort in and make something that i feel really proud about, sometimes i just make something more simple and some are most for sales purpouse (i have never played with pokemon or seen the movies, but i made an iPhone case in that theme) But i wouldn´t put something up that i didn´t like myself. I´m using this site to try out different styles and learn from others. I consider myself quite new to this so i don´t have a style yet, i´m trying a bit of everything. When it comes to this one, i drew the outlines by hand wich i have only done once before (sexy stormtrooper) and i was quite happy with the result. I don´t think you´re a snob or an asshole for trying to push the limits of yourself and others. That´s why i am here, to learn and evolve. Not granted i will follow your advice but i like to watch and observe the work of "real artists". (and i admit i have an attraction to drips, there will be more to come, haha)
So keep up the good work buddy, i´m a fan of you and your work!
It's a learning process for me to, Nicklas. I've posted things in the past that I'm not especially proud of, and I truly believe that anyone that honestly indulges in some form of creativity is already a healthier person. Art is a journey, just like life and we all have to start somewhere.
I grew up with the Abstract Expressionists... Pollock was kinda a role model for me back in the 1960's, so I have nothing bad to say about drips. My point about the drips and deer is that they are fine if the artist is using them as a metaphor or trying to say something other than "other people are doing this, so I will too!" Some of my favorite artists: Rauschenburg, Johns, Twombly, all are drippers.
