Seriously, all I want to do is write fiction and draw fiction, so others can experience it and be inspired, the way I was. When I work, I draw upon memories of listening to my mom read Brian Jacques’ ‘Redwall’ series, or my grandmother making up voices for the animal characters in Hugh Lofting’s ‘Dr. Doolittle,’ or my dad extemporizing bedtime stories over the cicadence and crickophony of a Midwest summer night. Storytelling is a reciprocal process of gift giving. I just want to give back.
