If you love zombies, and you love the flood of endorphins you get from acts of charity, AND you love having awesome stuff hanging on your walls, donate to the Comic Book Afterlife Hurricane Sandy Relief.

Here's how your $15 will help FIX NEW JERSEY:

1.You'll feel good about yourself, so you'll be more productive at work. Your boss is going to notice. Hey there, new CEO! That's a snazzy suit!
2. While it's shipping, you'll have something to look forward to besides lunch while you'r sitting in that corner office.
3. You'll be helping a grassroots effort that will ACTUALLY accomplish something good. The national charities are tied up in red tape. I'm doing this out-of-pocket. Why? Getting a grant would have taken too long and I'm not looking to get famous, I'm looking to HELP.
4-?. Your $15 will secure clothes, food, a HOLIDAY season that doesn't suck as bad as it would have, new drywall, beds, floorboards, toys, picture frames, books, windows, flatware, kitchen tables, chairs, light bulbs, (etc ad infinitum,) "thank you's", embraces, tears of happiness, pats on the back, and of course...number 5.
5. AN AWESOME POSTER! 11x17, 100lb gloss and signed.

So consider your $15 not as a number on the screen, nor as a lump of paper in your pocket. Think of your $15 as part of something bigger. Something better. Something you can wield as an engine of kindness and goodwill for your fellow human beings. It goes a longer way than you would think.

I don't know what the rest of the country is seeing on the news, but we are REALLY hurting here in the northeast. The Red Cross isn't doing shit. United Way? Nada. You might as well be donating your hard-earned dollars to NAMBLA. Even if you don't donate to my charity, find a LOCAL charity and point your dollars/clothes/food/toiletries/toys in their direction. It'll actually make a difference. Grassroots is the only way.

This comes as no surprise to me. I've lived a long time and have yet to see those organizations do much. They DO pay their CEOs and upper management well. Salvation Army is the best of the big names and they do earmark donations where you want them. Prayers and best wishes to the hardy residents of the North shore.
