Nausicaä is one of those movies that is so complicated and has so much going on, that it’s almost impossible to summarize in a single poster. I’ve been trying to focus on thematic elements of each movie, instead of specific characters and their journey. I definitely had to include Nausicaä in this one, but it’s not very evident here that it’s actually her. More or less I wanted everything regarding identity to be ambiguous. The colors in the poster sort of represent decay and nature at the same time. The movie is definitely focused on the humanity versus nature theme, like with most of Miyazaki’s films; but this time it brings out a different understanding of that war. There’s more to it than just angry gods. I liked Nausicaä, but it was complicated and hard to achieve something that represents so many interesting themes and figures.
