From Skulls to Sc-Fi to... Scrapbooking??
From Skulls to Sc-Fi to... Scrapbooking??
I spent a marathon 48 hours working on my first multi-page tutorial for Photoshop Creative. I am just now picking myself up from the floor, having been thoroughly beaten up by my editor :)

I had served on the Experts Panel for issues 86 and 87, writing some small articles and answering reader questions. For issue 88, they unleashed me to do a no-holds-barred tutorial on digital scrapbooking.

I came out of the gate, foaming at the mouth and ultra-confident. Once I got into the melee, I realized this is a LOT harder than it looks!!

Word counts... editorial style... explanations for every move I made... creating string and tape and backgrounds from scratch... organizing files for the bonus cd... I had been also been doing a lot of skull-oriented work and my usual sci-fi nonsense the past few weeks, so I had to totally change my mindset. It was definitely challenging! But it was a great experience, and I can't wait to see my work in print.

I believe issue 86 is already out in the UK. It's one month behind for the US. Check them out, they're really good magazines if you're into Photoshop!

Thank you Patti, Linda, and Catherine! I haven't actually done any type of scrapbook-style collage work, so it was pretty interesting doing all this in such a short period of time. I appreciate the encouragement and support.

Thanks Eternal! There are a handful of good Photoshop magazines out there. Photoshop Creative is great for beginner- and intermediate-level users. I also like Advanced Photoshop and Digital Artist, which also covers other programs like Painter.
