Your subject looks young and it is sad how this happens too often. On another note, your technical skills are so amazing! Those arms look hyper-realistic. I also really love your "Woman in Harlem". It reminds me of an etching we had to discuss in class when we were talking about dignity.

Excellent work!

Thank you, Raissa, for being so encouraging. The work above was inspired by an article that discussed the heinous ways in which terrorist cells were recruiting discontented, impressionable youths. I tried to blur the lines between photorealism and comic book art in an attempt to augment the tension between the looming atrocities and a misguided sense of heroism. Thank you also for your kind words concerning my Woman in Harlem illustration. The woman who posed for the reference photo exuded a sense of dignity and beauty that I attempted to portray with my limited skill sets. It was definitely one of the most challenging to capture simply because there is so much more to her beneath the surface that is implied by her subtle expression, pose, and demeanor.

Awesome illustration.
Great idea, and great execution.
