About Cassius Cassini

Here’s a little about me and my art, well I got into art from a young age and I loved to experiment with a whole range of mediums, I like best to to paint things from iconic imagery of popular culture be it movies, music, models e.t.c., but I also love to create graphics and abstract images and patterns. I tend to work with mixed media and love to use scanners, digital art software like Photoshop and Illustrator, acrylic paint, spray paint, ink, papier mache, emulsion, and marker pens.

My passion and inspiration for art is really for contemporary popular culture stuff but I also have huge respect to the classic master artists of the past. I started doing modern art after being inspired by album art and photography. I then started to develop myself and experimenting to find the right medium. I loved what some artists were doing with acrylics and had used them in past and liked the ease of not waiting hours for paint to dry like oils. I then got into pop art and graphic art and feasted on them for a while. I don’t like to be put into a niched box and will always create a new piece depending on what mood I’m in that day and see what comes out, I hate being restricted to just doing the same thing over and over again, in experimenting I feel the most free to express myself.

My biggest art inspirations are people who also liked to experiment and were not stuck to a medium like glue, Damien Hurst and Jeff Koons especially I hugely admire, just letting themselves express what was in their minds at the time on a great scale, they work is breathtakingly amazing. A great imagination I feel is paramount to creating art like what those two guys are doing with their creations. Love to have the money to really experiment with creating some huge pieces of artwork, that would be great, until then I’ll just keep doing what I like doing. Other artists I also love are Andy Warhol, Ron English, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstien, Piet Mondrian, Willem de Kooning, Banksy and Francis Bacon.
