Franklin - Gordon National Parks

by Chris' Landscape Images Of Australia

Framed Art Print

DESCRIPTION

Choose from a variety of frame styles, colors and sizes to compliment your favorite Society6 gallery, or fine art print - made ready to hang. Fine-crafted from solid woods, premium shatterproof acrylic protects the face of the art print, while an acid free dust cover on the back provides a custom finish. All framed art prints include wall hanging hardware.

Deep in the chasms, negotiating the river at rapid-level, you learn the complex personality of one of the last wild rivers on earth.

Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park is known to most visitors as the location of the popular Gordon River cruises, but this 440,000-hectare (1,087,262-acre) national treasure is also the part of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area you drive through when you travel from Hobart to the west coast. The gentle watercourse that crosses the Lyell Highway between Lake St Clair and Queenstown is a far cry from the Franklin River of documentaries, but don’t be misled – the challenging and rewarding section of the river is still downstream, as remote and untamed as ever.

Tasmania’s World Heritage sites cover an area of 1.38 million hectares – about 20 per cent of the Island.

*If rivers are a metaphor for life, Tasmania’s pristine Franklin River is breath itself’ -
Andrew Bain, The Australian, 24 March 2006.

Thanks Josrick! It is a unique forest, Josrick, I have ventured inside this fully covered vegetation from any sunlight for about a kilometre (500yards) holding a torch as I carefully followed the path frrom any creepy crawlies overhanging either side of the path & the only way to see where I was going.......LOL. There were many & vicious protests along this path & just outside it to stop the Government of Tassie for allowing the logging of these trees; common sense prevailed & the people won againgst the Government & Loggers back in the late 1980s :)
