These little parrots are desert dwellers and prefer Mallee or Mulga scrub land. These birds are very popular in aviaries; however a major problem is finding pure bred birds in their normal hue for breeding purposes. The Neophema family are known as grass parrots of which there are six species. They breed from early August to December; lay three to five eggs and the young leave the nest in about four weeks.
