The Black Saturday bushfires were a series of bushfires that ignited or were burning across the Australian state of Victoria on and around Saturday, 7 February 2009. The fires occurred during extreme bushfire-weather conditions, and resulted in Australia's highest ever loss of life from a bushfire; 173 people died and 414 were injured as a result of the fires.

As many as 400 individual fires were recorded on 7 February. Following the events of 7 February 2009 and its aftermath, that day has become widely referred to as Black Saturday.

How terrible! Apart from the human casualties, I cannot imagine how many animals died in fire that day. Hope it never happens again!

Thanks iiker! Every year in our summer we fear the worse, we live in the worst bush fire area in the world. I have lost two houses because of them but thankfully no gamily/friends!

Hello http://society6.com/renatarenata! Thank you for promoting my image. I see your new to Society6 & I welcome you but you must put your own photos in your Page not mine or anyones apart from your photos. My photo is copyright to me & should it sell through you, you could be in trouble! Can you please delete my photo from your page and/or anyones for that matter! I realise it is a honest mistake & I'm looking forward to seeing your photos:) I will call back later to see if you have deleted it!...........Chris
One Curious Chip commented on October 1, 2012 2:17pm
Don't worry, Chris; Renatarenata isn't trying to sell your work, they just haven't made any posts themselves, so their page shows the other artists he/she has promoted instead. (Notice your name under the image, and if you click on it the link brings you straight to this page.) I can see why it could cause confusion though!
Chris' Landscape Images of Aus… commented on October 1, 2012 2:29pm
Thanks OCC. Yeah, I have never seen anything like it but as I pointed out I'm concered if he should sell the image when it is in his page even if it ends back here! I would prefer if at, the very least, it should end up back in my Portfolio. Thanks for taking the time to write, OCC :)

Chris' Landscape Images of Aus… commented on October 1, 2012 6:36pm
Hi Maggie. Thanks for you're kind words too:) The feedback I'm mostly getting are from Peers like yourself who agree it is sad with the tragic loss of life, which is heart-warming. I have become very attached to the people in here & their all so sincere & caring:)
Monika Strigel commented on October 2, 2012 11:42am
The story is horribly - but Chris, this picture is a wonderful piece of art, minimalistic and expressional, but you been in danger, as you took it, or?
Chris' Landscape Images of Aus… commented on October 2, 2012 11:50am
Thank you Monika for such a great comment. Yes, i was in the middle of our race-course with smoke everywhere, mum being looked after by the Red Cross & so many people in fear of their lives. I cannot explain it all except to say it was Hell on Earth....................
