This started off as a little bit of a practice piece before it became something I wanted to follow through with. Actually when I first started it, it wasn't even John Locke. It started off as a face I was sketching for a warm up. Looking at it for a few days, I started to see Terry O'Quinn's features and fleshed them out with some inks/water colors. This happens to be the first time in a long time that I started the piece off with traditional mediums before even laying down a sketch or working on it with photoshop. I gotta tell ya, it was a lot of fun working with water colors on this. Years ago I'd be too afraid to tackle anything unless it was with pencils or a pen, let alone water colors. I think I'm going to try to incorporate them a little bit more in my initial work instead of just tossing them around in the background.
