There is, we are told, an infinite hierarchy of universes. Within it, organized into the local equivalent of galaxies and smaller structures, are an immense number of other, much tinier elementary particles, which are themselves universes at the next level and so on forever - an infinite downward regression, universes within universes, endlessly. And upward as well. Our familiar universe of galaxies and stars, planets and people, would be a single elementary particle in the next universe up, the first step of another infinite regress.
What would those other universes be like? Would they be built on different laws of physics? Would they have stars and galaxies and worlds, or something quite different? Might they be compatible with some unimaginably different form of life? To enter them, we would somehow have to penetrate a fourth physical dimension - not an easy undertaking, but perhaps a black hole would provide a way. There may be small black holes in the solar neighborhood. Poised at the edge of forever, we would jump off….

Us and Them

Heather Goodwind commented on September 24, 2011 4:36am
This is so amazing Deepti! The colors and the lines are so striking and the balance between dark and light and between abstract and representational is perfect. And I absolutely love the subtle curve in the split between the top and bottom, mimicking the shadow on the earth - it really makes it feel like something natural (or supernatural)...
Sreetama Ray commented on September 24, 2011 5:04am
so beautiful, Deepti. i think I recognise the photograph used in the bottom half from hawaii?
Deepti Munshaw commented on September 24, 2011 11:16am
Thank you so much Heather, for your awesome analysis.... it's almost like poetry! :) I think while creating, everything is paid attention to at the subconscious level... & then that moment comes when when everything seems to work together, & feels like it's done. Only when you hear an objective response, you realize that your mind was following (or missed) some design principles. This is why getting feedback helps so much! It helps to see how your own mind (& heart) work while creating. :) As for the 'subtle curve', I must admit that originally I finished the split with a straight line... & when I asked my husband for the feedback, he suggested that I curve that line to give it a 'horizon' kind of feel. When I did that, I loved it too! So, credit for that goes to my dear hubby! :) Thanks again Heather, for your lovely comment. :)
Deepti Munshaw commented on September 24, 2011 11:19am
Hi Sree! Thank you so much! :) Yes, you're right... it's the same photograph from hawaii. Great memory! :D
Heather Goodwind commented on September 25, 2011 4:16pm
That's so funny that you made the split straight at first - my first thought when I saw it was how if it were my piece I would have made it straight and that it wouldn't have had the same strength or poetry. (Thank goodness for hubbys, no?)

This is such a great image that I'm pinning it to my Pinterest public S6 favorites board with the hope that it will drive more traffic to your wonderful art!
Deepti Munshaw commented on April 23, 2012 2:02pm
Thanks so much again, Wayne!! I started pinning long time ago, but then stopped when the controversies emerged about some of their right to sell the images. I believe they sorted that out now so probably I'll start again too! Thanks again for bringing traffic to my art, Wayne... really appreciate it! :))
Wayne Edson Bryan commented on April 23, 2012 2:34pm
It's my pleasure, Deepti! To gain a bigger audience, we all need to reach out beyond S6. Seems to me that as a group we can help each other do this. We are stronger as a group than we are as individuals! Spread the word, spread the traffic, spread the potential sales for EVERYONE by making S6 a bigger presence on the internet!
Deepti Munshaw commented on April 23, 2012 10:31pm
I completely agree with you, Wayne! :))
