The two parts of this photograph were taken during different seasons at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago. The monument in the black and white section is looking into the past which is as dead and gone as the leaves on the trees. In the colorful picture taken during the blossomed time of the year, the monument is looking forward. This part of the photograph is representing the roots, but also representing that with every end there is a new beginning.
Photograph taken from the book: THROUGH MY EYES: THE WAY I SEE THINGS AND THE THINGS I SAW by EVA PILCH. The book this came from is available on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and you can ask your local book store.
