seems you like rings as much as i like trees :)
Heather Goodwind commented on February 21, 2012 9:47am
:) I like trees too, but yes, I've got a thing for rings these days.

Last night I had that dream again.
I dreamed I had to take a test
In a Dairy Queen on another planet.
And then I looked around

And there was this woman.
And she was making it all up.
She was writing it all down.
And she was laughing.
She was laughing her head off.
And I said: Hey! Give me that pen!

Please don't mind me. Loose associations again. VERY loose.
Heather Goodwind commented on February 21, 2012 12:17pm
Thanks so much Terry, Deepti, Andre and Geoffrey! Wow, Geoffrey, that extra cup of coffee really got your neurons firing today - and I think I kind of feel like I'm in a Dairy Queen on another planet these days too... all part of the job, I guess.
Geoffrey Agrons commented on February 21, 2012 12:18pm
I'll try to be mindful of the caffeine dose next time, Heather. Promise.
Heather Goodwind commented on February 21, 2012 12:35pm
I enjoy "heightened" commentary, Geoffrey, so please don't hold back. And new studies show that we should probably all be doubling up on caffeine (and fish). :)

The thing I really love about your work is the staying power... I find myself thinking about the metaphors, implications, associations (past & present personal battles & victories) for days, sometime weeks. Thanks for another REAL thinker, Heather!

Spokesman: How many times has this happened to you? You have a bass, and you're trying to find an exciting new way to prepare it for the dinner table. You could scale the bass, remove the bass' tail, head and bones, and serve the fish as you would any other fish dinner. But why bother, now that you can use Rovco's amazing new kitchen tool, the Super Bass-o-Matic '76. Yes, fish-eaters, the days of troublesome scaling, cutting and gutting are over, because Super Bass-o-Matic '76 is the tool that lets you use the bass with no fish waste, and without scaling, cutting or gutting.

Here's how it works: Catch a bass, remove the hook, and drop the bass - that's the whole bass - into the Super Bass-o-Matic '76. [ drops the bass into the blender ] Now, adjust the control dial so that the bass is blended just the way you like it. [ turns blender on and grinds it to a pulp ] Yes, it's that simple!

[ cut to Bass-Drinker on another part of the set ]

Bass-Drinker: [ drinks a glassful of bass ] Wow, that's terrific bass!

[ cut back to Spokesman ]

Spokesman: We've got fish here, fast and easy and ready to pour, mmm-mmm! Super Bass-o-Matic '76 comes with ten interchangeable rotors, a nine-month guarantee, and a booklet: 1,001 Ways to Harness Bass. Super Bass-o-Matic '76 works great on sunfish, perch, sole, and other small aquatic creatures. [ blends one of each ]

Super Bass-o-Matic '76 - it's clean, simple, and after five or ten fish, it gets to be quite a rush! Super Bass-o-Matic '76 - you'll never have to scale, cut or gut again!

Holy mama!! I love this. I am gearing up to paint a black and white "series" this is vey inspiring. It looks like a practice in trust. Mother spider offering her eggsack full of little ones. I love the texture. There is a little more but I'm on my phone ... Too tiny to type!! Great work Heather!

Wow, thanks Wayne, Hugo, Angela, Vince, Laura, Jacqueline and Angelo! Angela - spider egg sack, mm, I hadn't thought of that but I love it! Wayne - you are so nice, one of these days I'm going to hire you to pester the gallery owners who keep sending me rejection letters. Geoffrey - if I could get a fish-shake I'd start going to Dairy Queen in this world too! :)

laurie Anderson, wow, it is a stunning relation, Geoffrey,... I need an extra tea dosis (I don´t drink coffee)... this drawing introduces some new elements with old ones, ... I don´t know if it is an evolution or involution... but I like it.

Heather Goodwind commented on February 22, 2012 3:30pm
Thanks Marissa, Catherine and Óscar! Óscar - yes, I've been a bit obsessed with that "hole" or "shadow" for quite a long time now, and of course the rings.... I'm not sure if it is an involution but I certainly do like the word itself in relation to art - very cool!
Efi Tolia commented on February 27, 2012 2:17pm
Wow! This is so intriguing! That halo ring underneath reminds me of an eclipse...
Heather Goodwind commented on February 28, 2012 11:41am
Thanks Efi, an eclipse, wow, I hadn't thought of that for this one but I have been doing some eclipses in other work - maybe that is where it came from. :)
