The Eye
The Eye
Stretched canvas, Canvas, Steel wire, Pigmented beeswax, Gold leaf, Rabbit skin glue, Antique solution, Wool felt -
This is one of the largest pieces I've done at 48x48" with a 14" depth. I'm not usually so ambitious but one of the artists in my studio complex left behind a bunch of strecher-bars and they were divided up between the rest of us - I wanted to do a painting but it pretty soon turned 3 dimensional on me. I've included some process pics for fun, including my original sketch - as you can see I'm not exactly a "planner". Unfortunately I don't have pics from the gold-leafing and wax stage, but at least you can get a little bit of a peek inside with these.

Aw, thanks so much you guys for all your nice comments!!! And yes, Efi, I do plan to get ambitious again someday when I'm feeling more permanent about my surroundings (and storage possibilities - this piece isn't exactly the kind of thing you put in a suitcase). :D

Great documentation of the process. It is more realist than other works, but, it has an interesting mix of tecniques which gets a good final effect. It is an interesting theme too. Congrats, it is a great work, the best luck in this exhibition !!
