Marc - ha ha, me too. I was curious and googled "damp proof" and nothing came up regarding it's usage in safety matches, yet most vintage matchboxes include this important selling-point, who knows what it exactly means! I'm assuming some kind of treatment to the match head that makes it more resistant to moisture.
