The Fox and the Hound (Teumessian Fox & Laelaps)
by Emily Swedberg (Ito Inez)
Fine art print on bright white, fine poly-cotton blend, matte canvas using latest generation Epson archival inks. Individually trimmed and hand stretched museum wrap over 1-1/2" deep wood stretcher bars. Includes wall hanging hardware.
The Teumessian Fox, who was destined never to be caught, was creating havoc in Thebes, and Laelaps the hound, who was destined to always catch his prey, was sent after the fox. When the two met, their destinies were never fulfilled. Zeus intervened and turned the two beasts into stones and cast them into the stars. This painting captures the two as their bodies twist in motion to create the infinity symbol (∞), for their game of fleeing and pursuit is endless.
