Oh I love this perspective, Joy! I've never seen anything like this before. I guess the walkway was built for high tide? VERY high tide. You take such wonderful photos of interesting places.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your kind comments! Tracey & Beverly, this was taken in northern Michigan. I travel there several times a year. This was taken in Manistee along Lake Michigan. I think maybe the walkway is for the nasty storms & high winds & waves they get. There are so many beautiful landscapes in the area.

We go through there when we visit my folks in Ludington. We don't get down that way too much now though since it's about a 10 hour drive (translate to 2 days with our 3 year old) from our home in the Western U.P. Love western Michigan though...I was born and raised there :)

Lovely shot! Consider how crazy it must've been back before the lights in all the lighthouses were modernized. The keeper would've had to have to carry a container of lamp oil down that walkway in all kinds of weather!
