King Kamehameha I is shown in the background. He was the king who united the Hawaiian Islands. The spear symbolizes the history of Hawaii. Hawaiian warriors used spears for survival – for fighting and for getting food. The lei stands for celebration, beauty, health, and protection, and the hibiscus is the state flower. For me, this artwork signifies my life as I try to put all its components together.
