Portrait of My Son Through The Viewfinder of My Grandfather's Vintage Voigtlander Compur
Portrait of My Son Through The Viewfinder of My Grandfather's Vintage Voigtlander Compur
I was inspired to upload this photograph by memoryradio's post "old vs new" : http://society6.com/memoryradio/old-vs-new-mD5

This photograph is very special to me.

In my hand I hold my Grandfather's 90 year old vintage Voigtlander Compur folding camera that he bought in Germany in the 1920's. I've composed and taken a photograph of my son through the tiny viewfinder which is 1cm square, much smaller than it appears in this photograph. I cannot articulate the emotions this stirs in me.
I'm sure my grandfather never imagined that one day, in another century, his beloved camera would be used by his granddaughter (who he never knew) to photograph his great grandson.

I'm a sentimental fool.......!

Thanks memoryradio, you inspired me to upload it after I read your blog and your latest post. I really love the concept of giving new life to old cameras, hence my attraction to TTV photography (a simpler option to what you've managed to create with your old and new camera combo). Thanks again :D

and I mean simpler as in for me, I'm not very mechanical or handy although I can be resourceful :D I'm proud of the plastic cylindrical container that I cut a hole in and spray painted black on the inside and use to block the light between the two cameras with my TTV photography.
