Flappers, the Roaring Twenties Quintessence of Cuteness. It was flappers who first ventured to smoke in public, holding those scented cigarettes in blase lily-bent wrists. A stereotype flapper's pastime is to frequent cocktail and petting parties, wearing heavy make up in vogue - pallor mortis, poisonously scarlet bee-stung lips, richly ringed eyes -and generally looking rather debauched.
The flappers were the ones to introduce the new fashion - streamline dresses of the 20s and the skirt, that's just an inch below the knees (flappers powdered and rouged their knees!). The idea is that when she walks in a bit of a breeze, you shall now and then observe the knee but always in an accidental, Venus-surprised-at-the-bath sort of way. With the flappers corset was as dead as the dodo's grandfather and the brassiere abandoned. They bobbed their hair as an indication of temperament and the spirit of an artistic soul. Besides bobbed hair was unusual and chic.

This illustration is part of a homage to the Roaring Twenties, when glamorous haciendas and boudoirs were soaked in expensive liquor, when $3000 Parisian beaded gowns lasted the life of one party, when sex came served in Arabian Nights splendor, when money came in by the bushel and went out by the fistful.
