This whimsical painting is full of texture and movement. Painted in Gouache with a warm palette, it would be a great addition to your collection. This piece was originally created in a series of character development paintings for a beautifully illustrated version of the classic, Alice in Wonderland. The painting features the white rabbit, his pocket watch, a playing card and the magic potion Alice drinks in chapter two to grow tall.
This painting was created over several weeks. I created the piece with gouache on cardboard. The cardboard canvas is sealed with gesso and silver acrylic paint before the many layers of gouache are meticulously applied. Each layer of gouache is sealed with spray fixative and a layer of gloss medium so that each translucent gouache layer is set into place before the next layer is added. This technique gives the finished piece the appearance of depth full of rich texture and complex color combinations.
