DESCRIPTION

Collect your choice of gallery quality Giclée, or fine art prints custom trimmed by hand in a variety of sizes with a white border for framing.

Acrylic paints and differently coloured tiny stones ans glass fragments on canvas.
I wanted to portray the different layers of earth from red-hot, over earth-brown, to a sandy overlay with lightly coloured grass on top. I was thinking of sea grass because not much would grow there. Of course it's abstracized.

love it...very interesting use of materials with a fabulous result...

I'm guessing you can see the textures better on the original over the photo-image? Still, lovely piece! xo

Yes, you are so right! I had such a hard time photographing it. Parts of it - the right layer, the brown and the dark green are really darker in the original. I used brown and dark green small stones. Other parts are glittering because of the glass and it really has lots of structure. It's a shame that gets lost in the photograph. But thank you very much! I feel encouraged!

I meant textures not structures of course ;-)

Truly. It's lovely in photograph!!
I've been thinking of adding similar textures to my paintings as well. Are you using a glue? or, does the acrylic hold it all together?
Mayday750 commented on May 18, 2012 1:04am
Up to now I have used a base color for the sretch I wanted to work on, then put the sand on and shook off what was too much, then let it try before using any other colors. I also used the structural paste. It holds on fine except I haven't tried transporting thoses pieces yet. (The blue/green/yellow untitled one was done similarily.) Maybe one would need a glass panel and frame to preserve it. And, of course, one needs to work horizontally, so no cats allowed in the room. ;-)
