DESCRIPTION

Set of folded stationery cards printed on bright white, smooth card stock to bring your personal artistic style to everyday correspondence. Each card is blank on the inside and includes a soft white, European fold envelope for mailing.

The century plant (Agave americana) actually only lives for 10-30 years. Finally, it puts up a long flower spike (up to 30 feet high) and the whole plant then dies off. The flowers are borne on many side-branches of the main stem. Once the plant dies, many small plants start to grow around it, from the roots.

My parents had one growing for some years, and this is a study of the falling flower-spike, with its branches and the remains of the flower-heads, with digital enhancement. The pattern in the foreground is of plant cells from a study drawn in a botany lab.

lant, century, agave americana, flower stalk, cells, death, botany, drawing, pencil, graphite
