The first property my parents bought in the Far North was a triangular 10 acre block that sloped gently down to a stream on the full length of its longest boundary. On the far side of the stream was a huge forest of gum trees (Eucalyptus sp). This backdrop gave character to the whole place, and echoed back the sounds of the waterfall.
This painting was done at that time, reflecting my fascination with the shapes of the tree-trunks and the darkness of the forest interior behind them.
