Way up on the hill, beyond the furthermost town you could ever think to visit, lived Ruby-Sue. She had long ago been lost from the prized flock of Mr Xavier Hernandes (winner of the 1994 Llama Keeper of the Year award), but she was happy enough. She had grass to eat, a most lovely view east to the mountains and her tether, long ago chewed through and almost blown away, had become all tangled up with two little love hearts to keep her company. She sometimes missed the chatter of the other llamas, but she knew someday, someone, somewhere would come looking for her and she would be brought home...
