Sore Throat, a penny sculpture, is deeded to Kate Blackmere, and was made in June 2008, in the final days of my zoological and anthropomorphic influences.

Sore throat is made from a single US Penny, copper cladding around a zinc slug.

In celebration of approaching 20 years of coin reconfiguration, I am giving away my available sculptures to whomever is interested, with a small considerations, like allowing me to use it in future shows, and an agreement to not sell the sculpture for below it's ASRP.

This image was created using a scanning camera back and Toyo Large Format Body. Each image takes about half a day to take, due to the variety in size and shape of the sculptures, and the camera's technical operation. This was the best image out of ten, the rose highlights are from the setting sun reflecting off the copper surface. As an archival image this would be rejected for that reason, but I like it the most.

(LONG SPIEL)

Andrew Marshall Alper's penny sculptures.

Currently, original sculptures may only be received as gifts. To receive a sculpture, the recipient need only choose from the video catalogue maintained on Vimeo. Gifts are given based on the artist's affection for the recipient, and in the spirit of cooperation, appreciation and friendship at the project's center. For more information on obtaining an original coin sculpture, email the artist at andrew.alper@me.com.

To promote my art, and to aid in the redistribution of my originals, I'm creating "museum quality archival images" (and occasional miscellany as I see fit) to sell through Society 6 for limited public consumption.

I'm seeking 100.01 (in profit) per print, or, ten thousand and one times the face value of each penny. My plan is to introduce each print on S6, selling only 10 or so prints of each (depending on how fast I react). After 10 weeks the file will be removed from the S6 database and archived in my files. The number of prints sold and to whom will be recorded also. It's an important part of the project to record the income generated by each sculpture. A low resolution version of each print will go on my blog along with a brief history of the piece and who owns it.

Anyone who purchases one of these prints will of course bumped up to the front of the line, if they would like an original sculpture.

The project, spanning nineteen years, has seen many different phases, and each sculpture individually demonstrates some facet of my love of art; on obsession, creation, value, and spare change.
