ABOUT THE ART
Newgrange, Brú na Bóinne, Co. Meath, Ireland.
Newgrange is the best known of the passage graves in the area, although the World Heritage Site covers 40 such tombs. The mound is around 5,000 years old, predating Stonehenge by 1,000 years and the Great Pyramids by 500.
The most famous feature is the solar alignment - at the winter solstice, the first rays of the sun enter an oculus over the entrance, and shine almost 19m to illuminate the central chambers.
