ABOUT THE ART
Few moving objects have a shape as easily recognizable and adorable as the Vespa. Part of the magic of Piaggio’s creation is related to our imagination. This is one of very few vehicles in which what it is is far less important than what it means.
No one has ever put it better than Umberto Eco when he wrote: Thus the Vespa came to be linked in my eyes with transgression, sin, and even temptation- not the temptation to possess the object, but the subtle suggestion of faraway places where the Vespa is the only means of transport. And it entered in my imagination not as an object of desire, but as a symbol of an unfulfilled desire.
Those are the reasons for which the Vespa is an humble yet enviable transport.
