ABOUT THE ART
The bear bones (har-dee-har) of the drawing started with the idea of a sleeping panda that was a mixture of animal, rock and tree to try and reinforce the organic and ancient nature of the beast. I see the panda as a kind of protector of the land but has he been sleeping for too long?
I have also made a digital version which is now scoring in the Threadless x Wacom drawing challenge. My drawing hand would appreciate any and all scores (preferably 5's if you're feeling generous) - https://www.threadless.com/designs/land-of-the-sleeping-giant
I used a brush pen, fine liners of varying size, coloured inks and watercolour on Bristol Board.
