ABOUT THE ART
A true owl, the Russian pianist and composer Anton Rubinstein habitually slept late in the mornings. It is said that to force him out of bed, Rubinstein’s wife would play an unresolved chord on his piano. Her husband, who could not bear the sound, would leap out of bed and rush to resolve it into a perfect triad. Meanwhile, Madame Rubinstein would sneak in and steal his bedclothes to prevent him going back to bed.
