ABOUT THE ART

I did this many years ago ... Just itching to post something and haven't scanned any newer pieces yet:)

Deepti Munshaw commented on June 22, 2011 10:19am
omg angela!!! this is beautiful! you should add all of the old pieces too! :)
angela deal meanix commented on June 22, 2011 10:50am
!thanks, Deepti! some of the ones I've posted are a few years old, but this one goes way back:) I'll have to see what else I have. I go back and forth between these busy images and really simple ones ...
angela deal meanix commented on June 22, 2011 10:51am
I like that Einstein quote you put on justacreativemisfit's post!
Deepti Munshaw commented on June 22, 2011 11:02am
Looking at this one shows how your art has evolved without loosing the beauty and perspective! :) about that quote, I even bought that poster once! My hubby also agrees with that... for us an experiential reality... can't blame Gravity! lol! btw, there's one extremely beautiful book called 'Einstein's Dreams' written by Alan Lightman.... if you haven't read it yet please do.... you may like it... awesome fiction read!
angela deal meanix commented on June 22, 2011 11:10am
well, your encouragement is much appreciated:) I haven't read that ... I will definitely check it out! thanks!! I might buy the poster from justacreative... I have my eye on 3 or 4 prints that I really want, but trying to prioritize:) thanks again for the recommendation and the positive feedback, Deepti!

you're welcome, Angela!! :)

Your pieces inspire me to experiment with my watercolors =)
angela deal meanix commented on June 22, 2011 12:56pm
Thanks, Catherine! I might start experimenting with acrylics ... never liked them, but with a thin layer and varnish, I'm thinking might be very cool ... do you use them?
Catherine Holcombe commented on June 22, 2011 3:01pm
Yes, I do. I have done a fair amount of mural work and that is done with acrylics. You are correct, the trick is to use a medium and layer the colors to create depth and light. I always paint light colors over white so that I can get the right feel. I used to hate acrylics and only worked with watercolor for years. It has taken several canvases and walls for me to be comfortable with them. sorry for the lengthy post..

Um... sorry for the interruption girls... Angela, I just saw your post and wanted to say that it's pretty cool. I must say that I agree with Deepti about your evolvement, your drawings are different now... The best way to express correctly what I want to say is -you're simpler and yet you say more now- in other words you have become more direct. :)
angela deal meanix commented on June 22, 2011 5:20pm
Great insights, ladies:) Thanks, Efi I appreciate the feedback and taking notice ... I still get into these busy places sometimes, but part of the process, I guess:) Catherine that is really good info. I prefer oils on wood, but with this mural project will use the acrylics so I hope they take!
Catherine Holcombe commented on June 23, 2011 2:47pm
Mural project? Cool. I want to see pictures!
Efi Tolia commented on June 23, 2011 5:49pm
Yes, pictures pleeeease!
angela deal meanix commented on June 23, 2011 8:58pm
ahhh ... thanks for the interest! i will, i guess technically since they changed the parameters it will just be a 4x4foot panel, but that's HUGE for me!
Angela Bruno commented on June 24, 2011 8:57am
Hello angela! Wow, this one is really special! You know what, I like both: the busy images and the really simple ones! I think it's not always necessary to have a typical style and to do always and always the same things. Isn't there much more fun doing different things??
angela deal meanix commented on June 24, 2011 10:48am
Hi Angela!! I do agree, I've been attending a art critique group in my area and find it informing, but gets in my head a little bit and makes me feel like I lack direction or something. So, your words are uplifting:) Thanks!
