Quanah Parker was the last chief of the Comanche Indians and the last leader of the Quahadi band who were one of the last groups of Native Americans to surrender (in 1875). Quanah was the son of a Comanche man and a European woman. His life story is told in the book "Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History" by S. C. Gwynne.
