Stationery Cards

Ãscar S. Cesteros (oscesteros)

Vitae Sanctorum XLI

by Óscar S. Cesteros
DESCRIPTION

Set of folded stationery cards printed on bright white, smooth card stock to bring your personal artistic style to everyday correspondence. Each card is blank on the inside and includes a soft white, European fold envelope for mailing.

ABOUT THE ART

This is the first drawing of XL series of Vitae Sanctorum.

Ball-point pen drawing. Old drawing style using modern ball-point pen. In 1994 I started to make different drawings describing the relationship between the immaterial and material. The Saints, spiritual and tortured, represent this relationship and this concept links with old western paintings.

She's beautiful and somehow confusing at the same time - it's hard to tell if she's coming out of a pod or if it is actually part of her body, and the bit at the top just near her back is reminiscent of a preying mantis...

that is awesome and interesting comment!! in this series I am working with insects too, however I work without any plan or draft. In this case I started with the insect elements, with a human figure, without sex, a kind of blob without shape, and then all grew. Although the drawing looks like a slow and perfectionist work, I really created in only one session of two hours. But you vision is perfect (a mantis !, it is a great connection) thanks for your always kind comments, I appreciate a lot!
