ABOUT THE ART

This piece came to me on our last visit to Paris in September when I watched a little boy playing with a yellow balloon in front of the Institut de France. The little girl I saw sitting in the metro with her mother, and somehow she also became part of this picture.

Ink, pastel, colored pencil, collage on Canson drawing paper.
Original 8"X11", 21cmX29cm.

Love everything about this, the richness of color and texture and all of the wonderful details! I love the little 'rue' sign and French newspaper that you added so that this is unmistakably set in France!

Judith, this is delightful! : D Seriously couldn't think of a better word. Beautiful work as always, love the man with the paper, and really love that the kids and balloons make me smile! Gorgeous!

Meg, you are the sweetest :-) So happy this makes you smile, and that you like the man's newspaper: I cut these tiny little snippets from a French newspaper (I had to hold them with my tweezers ;-) and glued them together to make the new newspaper. THANK you, Meg!

love the man's expression!despite he is a bit disturbed by the chilren's play,he looks so understanding and almost moved..
Judith Clay commented on October 10, 2013 10:48am
Yes, it's a bit hard to tell how the man really feels about those children playing, but I think he really just wants to read his paper in peace ;-) Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, Agnes!!!

Nice to see you Beverly, TheCore, and Eric, and thanks so much for the great feedback. And thanks, Eric, for appreciating the inspiration behind this piece. The source of inspiration is usually almost as important to me as the outcome of the picture.
