Yes, creepy indeed :) Looks like smth carnivorous, though it is nor clear - can't see its teeth.

Thanks Wayne, cathie, and De.S.! De.S., I didn't venture in to take a closer look, but I might next time I head out there (it's on a great mountain bike trail). I actually found it a couple years ago, by it's smell (where's the beef jerky?) and now that it's dried out enough, I'm not so creeped out.

Thanks, catspaws and Chris. Chris, there are dinosaur bones in the area, but I'm usually far from the first to find them!
