While I was in Fontainebleau, one of my instructors' critiques of my drawing style was that I was focusing on line to the exclusion of tone in my travel sketches. I was a little skeptical, because I prefer sketching in Microns while I travel to avoid the drawing degrading before I have a chance to scan or photograph them.

However, that critique came back to me a few weeks ago at life drawing, and I decided to try my hand at rendering tones in only Micron. I rather like how they came out -- a bit like an etching.
