This is awesome. I have photographed trees from this perspective, but not seen it in illustrated form. Beautiful work!

so calming
Sharon Gochenour commented on January 4, 2012 7:14pm
@ Tracey -- Thank you! The somewhat ironic thing is that I was actually sitting in a beautiful narrow valley between two hills, so there were a lot of interesting perspectives I could have painted, but I just happened to sit down and look up.

@Beth & Anai -- Thank you! I was rather relaxed while painting it. :)

cool style
Sharon Gochenour commented on February 3, 2012 8:55am
@ Elaine and Violet -- thanks very much!
@ Rainey -- I did this in a similar style to a few of my other pieces, where I sketched out the finer branches and twigs in black Micron pen first, then added watercolor on top. I had to be kind of creative that day because I had forgotten my usual brushes, so all I had with me was the tiny folding brush that came in my watercolor set and an old square brush at the bottom of my bag.

Sharon Gochenour commented on April 23, 2014 1:29am
@Aimelle, ADIDA, Amy, & Tyler -- thank you very much! I love looking back at this piece because it was such a nice time painting it. @Doug -- Pretty sure I painted this with a Winsor & Newton 12-color beginner set, plus a cerulean blue I had from another beginner set. I enjoy my big paint palette I have now, but sometimes I think I get far more creative when I have fewer colors to work with.
