Introducing Duvet Covers on Society6!

We've heard a lot of interest from a lot of artists to make your work available on bedding. So we're a lot excited to introduce Duvet Covers as the newest product in the Society6 lineup!

After months in the lab to get these just right, they're ready just in time for some serious cold weather. Hand sewn and meticulously crafted, these lightweight microfiber Duvet Covers are ultra soft and vividly feature your art on top with a light cream reverse side.

A durable and hidden zipper offers simple assembly for easy care. They're machine washable with cold water on gentle cycle with mild detergent. Available for queen and king duvets - duvet insert not included.

For those of you already selling Shower Curtains on Society6, Duvet Covers have automatically been activated for you in your Shop, as we use your Throw Pillow/Tote Bag/Shower Curtain asset to create them - so long as the asset resolution is a minimum of 6000px x 6000px.

We are notifying you early and ahead of customers to provide ample time to check your designs and ensure they are appropriately represented.

We encourage you to please take a moment to review your new Duvet Covers. If you need to EDIT them for any reason, just click "ADD T-SHIRTS & MORE" at the top of any post, to update your file.

Wonderful! :-) But I wish there could be a new template, because if i want to change how an image looks on a duvet cover I can't do it without changing the pillows :-/

Menina Lisboa commented on Thursday, July 17, 2014 4:28pm
Yes, this is really cool, but again... why not a different template? We should choose which image applies to which product or even choose the products we want to have with our work... But these are great news, of course!

Super excited about duvets, but I have the same issue as Elisabeth Fredriksson and Menina Lisboa: Please give us a separate template. Something that is scaled appropriately for tote bags and pillows can look ridiculous on shower curtains and duvets....checking my shop, very few of mine look good, but I think if I scale them to look good for duvets, they won't look as nice for totes and pillows. I'd be over the moon if we had another template and I think the sales would be better if we had more control as well!

Harvey Warwick commented on Thursday, July 17, 2014 10:06pm
Duvet covers are a great addition!

For your next product addition(s), I'd love to see things like placemats, tablecloths, aprons, towels, car sunshades, baseball caps, and flags--both the car variety and the kind you put on a pole or hang from your house. I think that smaller items more affordable to the average consumer sell better.

I agree with the previous comments on separate templates, and would like to recommend that the multi-use templates have check boxes next to them to show which types of products you want to have a particular design on. My mobile designs, for example, don't work as stationery, and if I ever got into doing stationery designs, those would not be intended as mobile designs. I'd also like to see the option to skip having a design as a print, and only be available as a single product type. My clock and rug designs, in particular, generally don't work as prints, and are not intended to be so.

Finally, it would be great to have the ability to display our designs grouped in artist-defined categories. Works could be grouped by subject matter, color, media, and so on. The tags that are used for categorizing our works for the store may help direct customers to our page, but are not accessible once on a particular artist's page.

I have been a bedding designer for a long time and I think we really do need a new template for bedding and seperate templates for matching pillows to the bedding! I also agree with Harvey Warwick stationery and mobile templates can not be the same. I would be so happy if this could be changed! Finally I would love to see notebooks as new products... ^_^

Thrilled with the duvet cover addition, thank you! : )

I agree with Shelly Penko re templates - new template needed for duvet covers and shower curtains. Shower curtains often look silly at the moment because the throw pillow/tote artwork is not appropriate for shower curtains. Bed pillow template would be fab too!! Difficult for buyers to match bed pillows to duvet otherwise.

I also agree with Silvia Dekker - the greeting card template should be separate from the phone templates. We could make MUCH better cards with a separate template!

I'm with most on the separate templates for products, however I do understand that although society6 talent pool is naturally high, it is designed to an extent to be accessible for non-professionals as well as those of us who are professional designers/illustrators - the single template for multiple products makes it a little "easier" in terms of uploads, however maybe this could be a toggle function for those who want to use single template for multiple products. Perhaps offer a checkbox "make this file available as ____" or "use seperate file for ____"

I often get asked if my work is available as bedding, so I'm happy with this addition. Like others have said I think entire "sets" (duvet cover + 2 matching pillow cases) would be best case scenario but this is an awesome start! I also think it's great you guys listen to your artists and take our feedback on board! Looking forward to seeing this option evolve :)

Stephen Linhart commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 2:19pm
The Duvet Cover images that are produced for my images all show the duvet covers being a bit paler or lighter than the art looks on other products and on prints. Is the duvet cover printing paler, or “softer”?
Ana Guillén commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 2:21pm
Thanks for this great addition! I really like it.
About separate templates, well, It would be a nice option. I admit I am a bit lazy with templates, but it would be interesting to design patterns for a determined product and designers would appreciate it.

dzynwrld commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 2:59pm
Thanks for the great product addition S6! I agree the image showing the design on the actual duvet/bed does look very pale, hazy and washed out.
AnaCZ commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 3:03pm
Surely exciting news but as many others a pattern for duvets is not the same as for a pillow because of scale. If you make it the same, one if them will look disproportionate. New template is a must to guarantee quality and increase sales. I'm also concerned about the fabric - microfiber. Anyone knows what it looks and deems like. I would gladly pay for a blank swatch if I could.
Aaron McDermott commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 3:04pm

I'm very happy it isn't a separate upload. It would really slow the upload process to have to upload the same large jpg multiple times for something that's the same basic shape as shower curtains.
Christopher Johnson commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 8:37pm
perhaps you could have an optional upload that if left empty, the duvet would default to the normal large image?
watermelonhearts commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 9:01pm
Agree with the comments regarding separate templates. Also, what is the duvet cover made from? Polyester? Are we able to have the fibre content listed on the product description page please? Thank you for a great service Society6!
watermelonhearts commented on Friday, July 18, 2014 9:03pm
And yes, I agree with 'polsia' - I would prefer it if the duvet cover could be in 100% cotton but I understand this may have printing limitations.

And...
I agree with sylvia Cook Photography, image is dull and washed out....
And
WHY PREVIEW IS DOWNLOADABLE ???? With a simple right click !!!
(also about mugs, but mainly mugs images are reworked for this particular template and doesn't show the full image).
Please, Society6, could you take in consideration that you have to protect rights of artists and not to let anyone can upload pictures/drawings/paintings.....
You can't prevent people to make a screen copy, ok, but you can do something about right click... Thank you.

I love this idea. A wonderful addition to the home wares selection. It's a real shame they aren't available in all sizes (single, twin, queen, king & super king) to attract a wider range of bedding buyers. Also agree with up the pugs, in a sense. It would be great if we could select what colour the reverse side was.
Freja Friborg commented on Saturday, July 19, 2014 6:07am
This is really nice! But I only see 2 of my designs as Duvet Covers and if have particularly one I would like to see as a duvet cover - how do I add more designs as duvet covers??
GermanShepherdCrazy commented on Saturday, July 19, 2014 6:12am
I'm adding my voice to a plea for:
1. A choice of separate templates for EACH product (We could opt in for this feature when we upload our art to begin with)
2. Providing a choice of 3 colors for the backside of the duvet, perhaps adding gray and black to the present cream.
3. As to the request for pillow covers, SHAMS are what is usually provided with bedding sets you buy in the stores. I'd like to see these added to our product line-up.

Kudos to all you do for the art world on Society6! We artists truly appreciate this venue to showcase our creations!
Sara Valor commented on Saturday, July 19, 2014 6:50am
I just want to say Thank You!
I love that society6 is so easy to use, and I love it that S6 goes ahead and creates the new things for us using the template such as the pillow/shower curtain for the duvet covers. I like that since, it actually saves us time and bandwidth when you consider uploading and downloading.

Also, adding my voice to the option of background colors and pillow shams.

Again, a Great Big Thank You S6!

Kat Mun commented on Saturday, July 19, 2014 9:29am
So happy when I got the email introducing the duvet covers!

I agree with the separate templates for duvet covers, and also for other products. However, the toggle function mentioned by someone else above is what I hope for in the future. The ability to use one template would be nice to keep for some designs but just doesn't work for others. It would be a pain to lose that ease when it works for some designs perfectly fine.

Would love to see pillow cases and sheets as well. And the option for a cotton duvet cover would be great! But, definitely happy with the new addition and that new stuff seems to keep coming at a great pace. :)

Some quick feedback for what it's worth:
Just missed out on my first 2 duvet cover sales. Reasons given - Customer 1 needed kids design in single size but we don't offer singles; Customer 2 discovered that they are microfibre - "OK for throw pillows but not for bedding".

I agree about template and Duvet material. I have had issues with adjusting design templates so my artist signature is not sewn into say a tote or any other design. It would be great to be able to "reposition" the image so it captures the exact image the artist wants to share. Rory, also, any chance of getting some beach towels in the mix...I have several clients of mine asking for these...living in Sunny So Cal and OC I get a lot of requests for this!
Zoe Ingram commented on Sunday, July 20, 2014 12:32am
Fabulous addition to the range of products but I have the same request as many others to have separate templates for different products. Also, the addition of pillowcases (as opposed to throw pillows) to go with the duvet covers would be even better. I'm not sure I'd want to buy a duvet cover on it's own but as a set with pillowcases I would. Again, this would need to be a separate template as most pillowcases would be a coordinating pattern/design and a different shape too.

can you tell which fiber it is in: cotton, linen, synthetic... As microfiber can be any of that.
I have had questions about fibers quite a lot about others items (such as cushions) from my customers and i think the more you describe the better it helps the sell!

Great addition! Any plans for single duvet covers?
I have a couple of designs that'd be great for kids duvets.

keep on going. love it.
Villie Karabatzia commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 7:01am
Very exciting news!!!I agree with Zoe, Lilly etc..we must have separate templates for each product.Would also be the best like Zoe said to add pillows with duvet as a set!
Vivienne Gucwa commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 8:50am
Super awesome!!!!!
friztin commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 9:21am
ohh...!! Great addition!!!
I agree with the separate templates, and the image being dull compared to the other products (and competitors' bedding pics). I also second the opinion on non-synthetic fabrics for bedding. Are we getting pillowcases to match?
Amylin Loglisci commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 9:38am
I agree with the others that this is a great idea, but we need a new template for duvet covers.
melaniepearsondesigns commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 9:41am
Great addition but can we have them in UK duvet sizes too. I've already had people who were going to purchase complain that they can't get single, double or king UK size so we have both lost at least 4 sales this week alone!
Patternmuse commented on Monday, July 21, 2014 10:22am
Great - but need a new template plus one for pillows and in UK sizes please :)

For a company based I California, why no California King size?

I'd also love to see UK / Single sizes added at some stage!
studiomarshallarts commented on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 1:35pm
I actually love redbubble because it's only like three templates that are used.. the most time consuming part of uploading is the great number of file sizing and template that I have to save per product.. so annoying. I do think pillow cases should be added to match the duvet cover.
Sharon Cummings commented on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 4:34pm
My listings do not even have an option for duvets or shower curtains. :( If I click to edit a listing and hit "add t-shirts and more" there is NO TEMPLATE at all for duvets or shower curtains. Guess some of us cannot sell them.....I've emailed Society 6 with NO RESPONSE.
Sharon Cummings commented on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 4:42pm
Ok now I see it...it is with the PILLOWS. That just doesn't work at all. Squares and Rectangles. I will wait for a "fix" before I do that much work.
Je Suis un Lapin commented on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 7:06pm
Super!
Massimo Cremagnani commented on Thursday, July 24, 2014 8:54am
Great idea but I agree with those above: add separate templates with higher resolution and -please -add rectangular pillows! (separate again)
Go on!
witchoria commented on Thursday, July 24, 2014 9:06am
YES!
pureneon commented on Friday, July 25, 2014 1:15am
This idea is really cool but the only issue other than template that I find is that THERE IS NO OPTION FOR SINGLE DUVET SIZES! I was going to purchase a few sets only to find that there are none to fit my bed so I couldn't buy anything which means a loss in sales for other artists.

It's a shame, this new category is really great but it could've been reflected on more before it was launched!
cocopuffs0 commented on Friday, July 25, 2014 1:35am
Twin and double sizes would be nice! No?

I wish there was more pictures of the actual cover rather than a digital mock ups. I'm still wondering if the front side of the duvet that features your artwork has "sewn" lines going down it or not. I'm hoping not but you cant tell from these photos.
Quakerninja commented on Thursday, July 31, 2014 3:22am
I made a repeating pattern that looks good in real life at 100% but the mockup made it look like garbage so I just deleted it. I'm really disappointed.

This site is great and has much better products....I just hope that I can find a way to make it so I can put my other more intense designs on this site, it only accepts jpegs, it won't accept computerserve gif's, does any one have a suggestion? Every one has such beautiful art on this site, it's like being back on artSIG only here you get to post more of your works....and make beautiful products at the same time....
