A short-run art publication. Whiteout is a condition of diffuse light in which visibility and contrast are severely reduced and there are no reference points at all, leaving the individual with a distorted orientation.

Pricing and Categorizing Your Work to Sell
When you sell an Art Print on Society6 you determine your Profit (how much you want to make), as well as the Retail Price (how much your customer will pay). The best selling members on Society6 know that their work must be both easy to buy AND easy to find.

Think about the customer's point of view. You've already determined how much you would like to make (profit) from each piece, now it is important to think about what your Retail Price is saying...

Tips for making your products easier to buy:

1. On the Post page, when you set your pricing, please use a Retail Price that you're accustomed to seeing when you make a purchase. For example, assigning a whole number for Your Profit of $5.00, will likely give you an odd Retail Price of $17.68. So always think about your Retail Price and shoot for a whole number. In the example above, the Retail Price of $17.68 would be far "easier to buy" at either $17.00, or even $18.00. You can always change your pricing by clicking "Edit" at the top of any post. Do not delete the post or you will have to upload your image again, and you will lose all previous Promotions you have received for this post.

2. Think about using the Pricing Filters in the Shop to your advantage. Price your Mini Art Prints at above $20, and they won't show up under one of the most popular filters in our Shop!

Tips for making your products easier to find:

1. When you post your work for sale, just use the name of the work for the Title of your Post. You don't need to add additional words like "... Art Print", or "New Version..." or "by Artist's Name". Just use the Title of the work.

2. Carefully select the Categories that you would like for your work to appear under in the Shop. You must choose at least 1 Category (up to 4). Selecting Categories that don't represent your artwork may result in removal from the Shop.

3. Only add a Description if it helps to tell the story. Adding a Description is a good way to share your inspiration for each piece, and let people in on your creative process.

Society6 Art School: we may not help you create better art, but we sure will help you sell more of it.

File Preparation for T-shirts
It's no surprise that when it comes to selling more of your t-shirts, it all comes down to paying attention to the details. Here is what the best selling members on Society6 do:

1. Be sure to add t-shirts to accompany each of your art prints in order to round out your product mix. You are automatically prompted to "Add T-shirts & more" with each new art print that you post for sale. You can also go back and add t-shirts later by clicking "Add T-shirts & more" at the top of any previous art print post you have made.

2a. Dark & light garments (PNG). To allow for full color spectrum printing on dark garments we require a PNG file. Because we lay down a white ink underbase any white in your design will print. Remove the background from your file and save with transparency as needed.

2b. Light garments only (JPEG). To allow for full color spectrum printing on light garments only (no dark garment options), you may upload a JPG file. With this option, we do not use a white ink underbase and any white in your design will not print. Try to avoid a boxed design by using white for your background (as white becomes transparent).

3. Position your artwork within the printable area so it is properly placed on the chest of the T-shirt. Make sure that your artwork is centered within your 3300px (width) X 5100px (height) RGB color mode JPEG file saved at maximum quality.

4. Make sure that your artwork is aligned all the way to the top edge of your file. We will automatically create the space between your artwork and the neckline of the t-shirt when we print it (the placement), please do not add extra space between the top of your file and your artwork.

5. Check your previews after you upload your t-shirt file, click to zoom and make sure it looks like something you'd be proud to sell, and proud to own on each color option that you select (or remove by deselecting). If it doesn't look good, delete the file, noodle the original and upload something that will make you happy.

Society6 'Whiteout' zine contributions must be posted by Friday, July 1
We're really looking forward to your contribution to Whiteout, our first of what we hope will become a series of limited edition zines.

We'll first begin curating the contributions for the zine itself, and later the accompanying collection that will be featured in the Society6 Shop.

Some things to keep in mind when creating your work:

1. Create your piece and post it to your Studio at anytime, but by no later than Friday, July 1st to be considered for the zine and the collection.

2. Please use the title of your work as the title of your post AND please use the word "WHITEOUT" in the description of your post (even if that is the entire description)

3. The pages of the zine will intentionally be printed black and white only. We will likely be using a natural color paper stock, not bright white. The final dimensions of the book will be approximately 5.5" x 8.5" (with some spreads available to accommodate works).

You will be notified via email for inclusion in the zine, and separately via email if your piece is added to the collection.

Whiteout: collaboration details
We couldn't ignore our love for short-run art publications any longer. We're really looking forward to your contribution to "Whiteout", our first of what we hope will become a series of limited edition zines.

Whiteout is a condition of diffuse light in which visibility and contrast are severely reduced and there are no reference points at all, leaving the individual with a distorted orientation.

All you have to do is 'apply' for the collaboration, create your Whiteout inspired piece, and post it to your Studio for sale as an art print. We'll then curate both the contributions for the zine itself, as well as the accompanying collection that will later be featured in the Society6 Shop.

Some things to help you navigate this collaboration:

1. Please click the purple "apply" button for Whiteout, only if you at least intend to contribute.
2. Create your piece and post it to your Studio at anytime, but by no later than Friday, July 1 to be considered for the zine and the collection.
3. Please use the title of your work as the title of your post AND please use the word "WHITEOUT" in the description of your post (even if that is the entire description)
4. The pages of the zine will intentionally be printed black and white only. We will likely be using a natural color paper stock, not bright white. The final dimensions of the book will be approximately 5.5" x 8.5" (with some spreads available to accommodate works). Please keep these things in mind when creating your work!

You will be notified via email for inclusion in the zine, and separately via email if your piece is added to the collection.

More details to follow...enjoy.

A few more enhancements; Upcoming, New, Comments, and Promote from your Society
Last week we made some solid improvements to S6, which we encourage all members to read about here http://www.society6.com/studio/blog/H...n_Society6

Based on everyone's feedback (special thanks to Isaac Bidwell http://www.society6.com/studio/isaacbidwell for jumping on the phone with me), we've got a few more for you today...

As you know, all of the Posts on the homepage (whether associated with a Product for sale, or not) were posted within the last 24 hours, and garnered the most promotions from the community - the Popular posts.

We've created the concept of UPCOMING http://www.society6.com/upcoming. UPCOMING is directly accessible from the VIEW RECENT POSTS link on the homepage, and is the forerunner of Popular Posts - the Posts made within the last 24 hours (whether product or not) that are on the rise, and only a few promotions shy of making it to the homepage. You will also notice that since these posts are primarily intended for us members, they will take you directly to the respective artist's Studio.

We've also brought back NEW (also accessible from the VIEW RECENT POSTS link on the homepage) to help give even greater exposure to new artists and artwork.

Members who are logged-in will notice that we've added Comments to every product page within the Shop, which is also another direct link into that fellow member's Studio.

And lastly, we've added Promote buttons to each post within your Society, so that you can more easily promote the work of members that you follow.

Home improvement on Society6
Hey everybody! As you may have noticed, we've just made some exciting updates to Society6.

First off, we’ve organized the Posts on the homepage by POPULAR PRODUCTS (Posts with products for sale), and POPULAR POSTS (Posts that do not have products for sale) posted within the last 24 hours.

For those of you that love to promote, we've added VIEW RECENT POSTS showing the 20 most recent Posts to help give even greater exposure to new artists and artwork.

POPULAR ARTISTS features the artists with the greatest number of promotions within the last 48 hours, and takes visitors directly to your artist page within the Shop.

We’ve added “More from this Artist” to your product pages within the Shop to highlight more products for those predisposed to purchase your work.

You can now Follow any artist directly from their artist page within the Shop.

You can now Promote any Post from the product page within the Shop.

We’ve eliminated those pesky “Buy” icons from the homepage, by simply replacing them with the price of your Mini Fine Art prints.

We're on to the next round of goodies...

Thanks again for being a part of Society6!
