NEW Collaboration: "VACANCY" zine

We're really looking forward to your contribution to "VACANCY", our fourth in a series of limited edition zines (quickly sold out), which you can view here http://society6.com/books.

All you have to do is 'apply' for the collaboration, create your VACANCY contribution (you may create and post more than one piece), and post it for sale as an art print. We'll then curate both the contributions for the zine itself, as well as the accompanying collection that will later be featured in the Society6 Shop.

Some things to help you navigate this collaboration:

1. Please click the purple "apply" button for VACANCY, only if you at least intend to contribute. You must apply by no later than July 22nd to be eligible to participate (and your work completed and posted by August 6th, see below).

2. VACANCY is dedicated to the spaces here, there and in between. So think Outer Space, Abandon Buildings, Abstract, Voids, or anything that the word conjures up for you. Please create your piece and post it for sale as an Art Print at anytime, but by no later than Tuesday, August 6th to be considered for the zine and the collection.

3. Please use the title of your work as the title of your post AND please use the words "VACANCY zine" in the description of your post (even if that is the entire description).

You will be notified via email for inclusion in the zine, and separately via email if your piece is added to the collection.

Updates to follow...enjoy.
Collaboration Closed on: July 21, 2013
We're looking for contributors to participate in our next self-published, limited edition zine entitled "Vacancy". Please apply if you are interested! You will be notified upon acceptance into the project.

Justin Cooper commented on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 10:07am
@selinabetts, yes, can be an existing work. But we like to encourage you to consider creating something new as it will be published.

Interesting concept. While at first I wasn't sure of myself in relation to the abstract/spacey prompt, with the encouragement of some fabulous fellow artists I've included an experimental piece to try and be a part of this fabulous opportunity. I hope you guys will try to include more artists in this zine than you did the last; there's so much great talent on Society 6!

Great idea, I can't see any sample though under the provided link: http://society6.com/books; it would be great to see the previous issue to see what type of work you feature. Thanks.
Ant Errickson commented on Friday, July 5, 2013 5:10pm
This was the first time I've ever submitted to a collaboration. Can you guys tell me if I did it correctly?
J&S Montague ( OutOfTheMists ) commented on Saturday, July 6, 2013 8:40pm
Wanted to ask if multiple submissions had to be a related series of pieces, or if they can be non-related works but "vacancy" in concept. For example, I have several pieces which are a similar theme of my take on Vacancy. Can I submit something else with a different take on the concept of Vacancy or is it best to have them all go together like a series? Thank you! :)
Vivienne Gucwa commented on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 1:55pm
Well, I think I applied correctly. I clicked on the purple "apply" button and then went into the descriptions of the works I wanted to submit for consideration and put VACANCY zine in the descriptions. Is that all? (I hope so) Looking forward to seeing the finished zine!
De Bird commented on Thursday, July 11, 2013 10:18pm
The Apply button doesn’t seem to be working for me :( Any help pls?
Marco Nicotra commented on Friday, July 12, 2013 1:22am
Jessica Jimerson commented on Friday, July 12, 2013 2:48pm
I clicked "Apply" and it put my avatar in the applicants list, however I did not see an area to submit the artwork I want to use directly to this collaboration. So I uploaded the artwork as I normally would, added the correct words to the art's description and here is the link: http://society6.com/JessicaJimerson/U...pace_Print

Please let me know if I have done this incorrectly, as I really wish to participate.

-On a side note are we allowed to enter more than one artwork?
Justin Cooper commented on Friday, July 12, 2013 2:50pm
@jessica, you are all set. Yes, you may submit as many pieces as you like. Thanks.
Tommy Noshitsky commented on Saturday, July 13, 2013 1:38am
http://society6.com/TommyNoshitsky/prints?page=1
I added the words '' VACANCY zine '' to the descriptions.
Anything else beside doing this to all of them and applying '' ? Do I need to point them all line by line? I did not add too many designs so far so I figured you might just check the shop and pick what you like or not to feature... thanks for the opportunity! peace!
Rio Burton commented on Saturday, July 13, 2013 8:49am
Thanks guys! This looks so awesome! I have a past piece that I'm pretty happy with that I've contributed, but if freelance work allows I'd love to create something else. ;) Looking forward to seeing what other artists will create!
DizzyNicky commented on Saturday, July 13, 2013 3:48pm
Why my comment was deleted? It was beacuse i put a link with my artwork ?
numarul7 commented on Saturday, July 13, 2013 6:00pm
I`ll be finishing my stuff for the Zine near 27 july. One design notice for the next Zine and competitions in the future : A. Have on option at the upload time like a button "include this work in Vacancy Zine". B. Have an option highlight the ordered stuff , or a section on main site with "stuff bought now" or "hot selling now".

:) Thank you!

So far just dipping my toes into Society6 but have gone ahead and popped one in for the zine! Titled "what had been". Fingers crossed and hope I ticked all the boxes. Be nice to see the final result either way

Just submitted my first piece for this... http://society6.com/benwhittington/Bad-Lucky
Ben Whittington commented on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 5:29am
Also submitted this pic of an abandoned building I took a while ago as it seemed somewhat relevant.
Wish I'd been back to take a better photo before it got renovated and therefore erasing the spooky face!

Thanks, that was fun. This is my first submission as well. Looking forward to doing it again.
Caroline Jamhour commented on Friday, July 19, 2013 9:17pm
I've applied, but didn't understand quite well how should I submit my artwork... I should post the title here in the comments? If so, it's Microcosm, in my print gallery.
Swell Dame commented on Saturday, July 20, 2013 12:28pm
I applied but this is my first time submitting. Should I submit my artwork here in the comments? If so, here is my submission: http://society6.com/AmberGrey/Vacant-3g8
flo.still commented on Saturday, July 20, 2013 2:24pm
do we post the link to the submitted art works here?
Alexandra Davidoff commented on Saturday, July 20, 2013 4:06pm
No one needs to post this submission links here. There were a bunch of people who did in the past and all their comments were deleted. Just follow the instructions listed above. :)
Thomas Hansen commented on Sunday, July 21, 2013 9:21pm
I believe I've applied. How long does it generally take to receive an e-mail. I don't want to have missed the deadline. :
Antigoni Chryssanthopoulou - i… commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 12:01pm
I think this is the last day I can apply (deadline 22 July) - I press the purple link but no apply button appears, is it too late?
Alejandro Montes Santamaria commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 12:39pm
Hi from Mexico i cant find the purple "apply" button is to late???
Caroline Jamhour commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 3:40pm
Alexandra Davidoff, maybe it's because english is not my first language, but I just didn't understand very well the instructions, hehe. It says "3. Please use the title of your work as the title of your post", does it mean, the post in which the print is for sale itself? Or a "post" we should do somewhere else to apply... that's why I thought it should be "posted" here in the comments. So, no need to post anything here in the comments, they will look for any print in my gallery that has "Vacancy zine" written in the description, is that it?
Alexandra Davidoff commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 3:52pm
Yes Caroline, that is it. The part that says "3. Please use the title of your work as the title of your post" intends to instruct you to title your post the same thing that you titled your piece of work. For example. If I were to upload a drawing I call "Summer", I would use "Summer" as the post title. The word 'post' means the actual entry you make for sale after you click on the 'post/sell' part at the top of the website. Basically, post a piece of work for sale as an art print like you would do under normal circumstances, with the only difference being the addition of the words 'analog zine' in the description.
Alexandra Davidoff commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 3:54pm
Oh, and by the way, your work is really cool Caroline! Promoted a bunch.
Caroline Jamhour commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 4:03pm
Thank you so much for the patience, Alexandra, haha! I got it now. ;) Oh, and thank you for the compliment and for promoting my work! I like yours a lot too!
Taylor Yocom commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 5:24pm
I just posted my work! Almost positive I hit the apply button a few weeks ago...any way it can be checked?
Bianca Lemus commented on Monday, July 22, 2013 7:11pm

Timothy Tsun commented on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 2:22pm

Kim Rose Adams commented on Friday, August 2, 2013 8:37am
Could there be better communication next time, like a mass email? It is difficult to enter contests that come to us in blogs.
Jessica Guarnido commented on Monday, August 5, 2013 5:41am

Justin Cooper commented on Monday, August 5, 2013 4:14pm
@Jessica, yes, of course
Jessica Guarnido commented on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 9:14am
