About Women of the 113th - by Emily Nemens

Women of the 113th started in 2011, with a 6" x 6" watercolor portrait of Michele Bachmann. Over two years, I painted tiny versions of every female member of the 112th US Congress. After 2012's historic election, which brought more women to Congress than ever before, I started work on the 113th. I'm excited to share some of the highlights with you here. More prints to come each week!

My blog, http://womenofthe112th.tumblr.com, has over 64,000 followers and has been featured on MSNBC, Salon.com, Huffington Post, NY Mag, Watercolor Artist, and elsewhere.

"Artist Emily Nemens' depiction of the U.S. Senate's gender imbalance is both a bummer and visually appealing!"
-- Madeleine Davis, Jezebel

"The second-awesomest thing on the internet today."
-- Chris Hayes on MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes (5/15/2013)
